Body Cover Group, Waalwijk

For the Body Cover Group, designer and distributer of various types of swimming and ladies’ underwear, a very special development was undertaken: an all-in-one compact concept. The business premises consist of three floors affording space for various functions, from office facilities to design workshops, storeroom, orderpicking and showrooms.

The entrance, storeroom and the showrooms are to be found on the ground floor. The offices, design workshops and assembly areas are on the first floor. The choice for assembly on the first floor originates from a desire to make optimum use of the space available. A spacious loft in the building provides a visual contact between the various functions. This loft also functions as an exhibition space.

Reaction to the location

On the exterior the building reacts as a volume on the location. There is a large, transparent opening on the ground floor which focuses on the entrance to the industrial zone Haven VII in Waalwijk. In this way people are immediately aware of the purpose of the user’s presence. The concise nature of the building is emphasised by the dark metal facade on all sides with horizontal trenching on the upper floors. The green surroundings of the office form a perfect fit with the special garden lay-out used by the head office of the Mandemakers Group, situated next door.
